North Point-class heavy cruiser, WIP

The North Point-class heavy cruiser has been a staple of the Paternian Navy throughout its variations of its existence. Her high speed and incredible firepower of nine 8 inch naval guns allowed her to challenge all but the most significant threats. However, they would soon be supplanted by the Honolulu-class, itself a variation of the North Point, armed with more versatile 6 inch guns. Depicted is a simplified, non-functional scale model designed to help sailors recognize a North Point-class cruiser. It lacks anti-aircraft weapon mounts, functional weapons turrets, and any seagoing capability. Consider this a teaser for the real deal.

@ErvenDynamics No. While the Paternian Navy frequents the Red Sea and all ships of the class have passed through the Suez Canal at some point, pirate attacks significantly decrease in their presence, especially the Paternian cruisers.
They do their level best to avoid Paternian-flagged commercial vessels because getting your house (and every house in the village for that matter) slammed by 8" explosive shells is a singularly bad experience.
@JakeTheDogg Yes. Both the North Point and its successor, the Honolulu, could survive a blast from a 300lb underwater, even if said blast is amidships under the keel.
@Blue0Bull I know.
It's because have tons of gun builds, and having a dark background doesn't exactly work well with modern firearms.
@ErvenDynamics North Point, and the succeeding Honolulu, never had any torpedoes.
The Paternian Navy in the 1940's did not see any reason why cruisers need such weapons. Took up space that can be devoted to other needs, and a capital ship in Paternian doctrine would employ their superior gun range to precisely strike targets at long range.
Getting a capital ship to distances where torpedoes are effective is thus a bad idea due to the fact it negates this very advantage. In a mutually destructive torpedo exchange, the loss of a cruiser would be more severe than a lighter vessel such as a destroyer, torpedo boat, or frigate.
@ChasingHorizon Congrats on Platinum! Anyways, what do you think of North Point and her cousin Honolulu?
@Halphas Can you make this ship work? Feel free to add 40mm and 20mm AA cannon where you see fit.
