DragA-8A Carnivore Attack Aircraft

Auto Credit Based on DragonAerotech's DragA-8 Carnivore Attack Aircraft

The new DragA-8A Carnivore Attack Aircraft was built to specifications laid down by the @Pilotmario Air Force for a new attack aircraft that could fill the niche of the antiquated Pummeler. The original DragA-8 utilized T3000 engines with propellers too small to make full use of the horsepower provided. Furthermore the T3000 barely matched range requirements via the use of drop tanks.

Thus DragonAerotech went back to the drawing boards and revised the power plants to paired T1000 engines driving a pair of contra-rotating Pilotmario Air Force Type 5 propellers. These new power plants were far more fuel efficient and provided stellar performance at low and mid altitudes.

As per the request of the Pilotmario Air Force Air Breaks were integrated into the design to allow the aircraft to decellerate quickly in flight or upon landing.

The armament was similarly revised. Without the necessity of drop tanks the bombload was increased by 50% and the gun armament was revised from the original 20 mm cannon to a heavy rapid-fire 30 mm Vengeance Assault Rotary Auto-Cannon firing from below the nose as opposed to above which effected pilot nightvision during night assaults.

This aircraft is presented in Pilotmario gray-scale visibility markings.

The Pilotmario Coast Guard has also expressed an interest in the Carnivore but more information regarding underwing stores and color scheme required before design of the projected DragA-8B is is undertaken.

CG 1-3 - Drops 2 Boom-25s.
CG 4 - Disposes of empty rocket pods.

@Sunnyskies Thanks for upvoting this has-been design. I cranked this one up from the original as a sales-pitch sorta deal with PilotMario. He preferred the original though it's fuel efficiency and speed were completely inferior to this design. lol In the end his variant he created was so heavily altered you could barely tell they were related. XD

@Pilotmario We fully understand the PAF's feelings towards the original prototype. We at DragonAerotech were concerned by the shortcomings of the first prototype with T3000s would barely reach the range requirements with drop tanks and the Type 5 propellers in place. Thus we sought to turn to the paired T1000s with Type 5 propellers and the airbreaks requested which produced higher performance, lighter weight, a heavier gun and opened additional space for disposable ordinance. We acknowledge however that maintenance of the revised engines may prove problematic in the field however as it requires removal of the airbreak assemblies to reach the paired engines. Additionally the contra-rotating propeller hub assembly is perhaps prohibitively complex for field repairs. Finally the high performance of the latter prototype proved problematic on landing due to the lack of flaps. DragonAerotech will be prepared to offer tooling and equipment for the production of the DragA-8 Carnivore to the Bandit Industrial Group and will provide advisory assistance in the conversion of the type to the two seat variant desired by the PAF by the end of the second quarter of this year. We at DragonAerotech thank you for your' business and look forward to your' accomplishments on the field of battle. ^_^

@DragonAerotech We also liked the T3000 engines.

@DragonAerotech Yep! It is rare for foreign-designed aircraft to be adopted by the PAF on an official basis.

@Pilotmario lol That was to be the DragA-8B, which was soon to follow, but still cool to have one of my designs integrated into your' story line! ^_^

@DragonAerotech lol. Our variant will feature a revised canopy to accommodate the copilot.

@Pilotmario If your' government prefers the original DragA-8 over the DragA-8A - of course we can arrange a licensing agreement. ^_^ (BTW, that's DragA-8 like MiG-28 - just a coincidence that the A for Aerotech stands for Attack by the American system. ;) )

The Pilotmario Army has taken interest in the original type as an unarmed army cooperation aircraft, and is seeking a license to produce the aircraft domestically under the direction of Bandit Industrial Group.
