It is, trim is actually a control on aircrafts, when you constantly pull up on the yoke to keep the nose up, it gets very tiring.

BTW VTOL stands for vertical takeoff or landing. You use that bar for vertical take-off thrusters.

On the other side is trim, trim is what you can do to make the plane fly level if there's a little pull down on the nose or a little too much lift.
