Use [1] for propellor engines and [2] for VTOL engines. The VTOL engines were originally added to assist water takeoffs, but it ended up being very helpful for shortening the takeoff/landing processes. You can also deactivate the prop engines and use the VTOL nozzles to stpp/brake while on water.
