Name: Republic EWR AVS
Type: Conceptual Replic
Attempt #: 1
Falkenwut Generation Build: 6

A concept design I've been wanting to build for a very long time. Not as good as I was hoping it would turn out though. Say hello to the Republic EWR AVS.

This concept plane was designed in the mid-1960s as a Vertical Take Off, Swing-wing supersonic combat aircraft. However this has been later scrapped in favour of the eventual Panavia Tornado design. With regards to actual specifications and details of the plane, I was only able to find information from the secretprojects.co.uk website, but I have taken some artistic liberties as there is plenty of information I was unable to get my hands on at the time. This is not a very good replica, I am aware, Hope you can still enjoy it for what it is :)

Suggested VTOL Take off procedure:
- Activate Button 1, Set VTOL tab to lowest setting
- Set to full power and take off for about 100m
- Slowly transition the VTOL tab forward
- When you reach the 300KM/H mark, De-activate Button 1 and fly

I was unable to find a proper was to approach for VTOL Landing. If anyone manages, let me know!

The plane spins in flight. It seems to be a bug in-game...

VTOL - VTOL, Flaps & swing-wing
Trim - Elevator Trims
Action Buttons:
1 - Activate VTOL usage
3 - Jettison AAMs
5 - Jettison Bombs

@edensk Good point! The plane has gone through many iterations before, during, and after this. Which goes to show why the final Panavia Tornado design was chosen as is!

@Falkenwut Above ~5 degrees AoA , the engines wouldn't get clean airflow irl because of the LERX blocking it, and the engines would very likely suffer a compressor stall. This is why almost no fighter jets have the air intakes on top of the fuselage and probably one of the reasons this design wasn't successful
