The F4F Wildcat is an American carrier based fighter first introduced in December 1940, about one year before Pearl harbour got attacked pulling the USA into the Second World War. The wildcat was mass produced throuout the war until 1945 and has seen all major battlesin the Pacific theatre that involved aircraft carriers including the pivotal battle of Midway. As the war progressed however it was religated to a role on escort carriers where larger fighters could not be used
