Gloster Comet (R.A.A.F)

5,598 RedFalcon  7.2 years ago

The Gloster Comet is a first generation jet fighter which was built by the British in World War II in order to combat the new German Jet fighters. The aircraft was the first of its kind for the Allies and was the only jet fighter to serve them during the war. Afterwards however, the fighter was used extensively by the R.A.A.F in further combat operations, including the Korean War, where they were challenged by fighters far more advanced and capable than the Comet.

This is the third build of a small series of fictional aircraft inspired by Australian military aircraft designs. The following aircraft will be used as inspiration for design over the next 3 weeks:

- Avro Lancaster (maybe)
- CAC Boomerang
- Gloster Meteor
- F-86F Sabre
- Mirage IIIO
- F-111C Aardvark (maybe)
- F/A-18A+ Hornet
- F/A-18F Super Hornet
- F-35A Lightning II (JSF)

Note: The order of which the builds are released is independent of the introduction date of each aircraft.

Hope You guys like the build, if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments, I would love to hear them!

I take my replicas a bit more seriously; I try and make the scaling as accurate as I can and, when possible, replicate the flight characteristics. Certain features of the airframe would be more detailed and relative to the real deal as well. For instance, the cockpit glass on the Comet isn't quite right and the dimensions are a little out. That's the kind of thing, for me, that separates a replica from a recreation @BACconcordepilot.

It not meant to be a replica, but it does look a lot like the Meteor @BACconcordepilot! :)
