The North American Sabreliner (later sold as the Rockwell Sabreliner) is a midsize executive jet developed by North American Aviation. It was offered to the United States Air Force for use in its Utility Trainer Experimental (UTX) program. Due to the similarity of the wings and tail to North American's F-86 Saber aircraft, it was called the "Sabreliner". Military variants designated the T-39 Sabreliner were used by the United States Air Force and Navy. After the Air Force placed the initial order in 1959,[3] the Sabreliner model was developed into commercial variants for civilian use.
