MT1J1 Singa
MT1J1 Singa
The MT1J1 is a result of constant research to tank ergonomics, mobility and firepower. With results from the previous prototypes like the HT-3, KKB-1, Hetzer, AT-152, and the Luchs MkIII. The tank features excellent gun handling and excellent mobility for a 55ton tank. That being said, it is a lethal fighting vehicle during tests.
The MT1J1 is surrounded by 125mm of armour. You may think that is not enough armour. But bear in mind that the armour is aggressively sloped for multiple bounces over it's upper and lower glacis. The fact said armour is comprised of military grade ceramic just makes the whole tank a lot tougher to defeat frontally. It's main hull weakspot is at the rear, but the hull's traverse is monstrous, 40°s! Unfortunately, the driver is at a relatively weak spot, the driver's hatch up front, so drivers of this tank have to be wary of the consequences. Since the armour is aggressively sloped, HEAT rounds may have trouble penetrating the thick ceramic effective armour, leading to bounces instead. Unfortunately, it doesn't really work with HESH, so Reactive Armour are placed to destroy the HESH and HEAT shells before they could penetrate.
On the turret, the armour is not as sloped, but it is quite excellent at absorbing high amounts of shells with its Reactive Armour. The sides and rear are mounted with spaced armour plates arranged 37.5cm away from the turret sides. It effectively blocks HESH and HEAT rounds, making it's survivabilty much more longer.
It features a better gun, a 125mm RF VT-25 gun, capable of shooting APDS shells, capable at penetrating armour as much as 512mm of effective armour. It's HEAT rounds work like any other HEAT shell and it carries HE which carries enough explosive filler to create a 5m diameter explosion splash. The gun reloads in 5 seconds, at best. It is capable of going hulldown with its all round 8° of gun depression, something to note. Note, the tank has two stage charges, the explosive in the hull while the propellant in the turret.
The tank is manned by a crew of four, a gunner, a loader, the tank commander and the driver. Due to it's width, it is relatively large and comfortable compared to it's previous prototypes, with the three crewmen in the turret and the driver in the hull.
It also features an autoloader variant with better firepower, but it makes the fighting compartment a lot more cramped, and that idea was scrapped. Malay Corps found that it is way more beneficial to have a loader crewman instead of a autoloader, as it can replace the driver when said driver is knocked out.
The tank is powered by a 12cylinder Heavy Duty Turbine Diesel Engine, capable of pumping 1700hp of power, and 1280ftlbs of torque, allowing it to scale slopes as steep as 30° without effort. But to support its weight, a new torsion bar suspension was needed, so a suspension with a max weight limit of 60tons was needed. The tank is capable of reaching 40mph on flat ground, having a track traverse of 40°s and turret traverse of 50°s.
All in all, it is an excellent tank in terms of armour, maneuverbility and firepower.
Controls:
As usual with my previous tank designs
Cameras:
I for commander's cupola
II for driver's hatch
III for gun (Chase)
IV for gun (First Person)
V for gunner
PS-It has a good turret basket for the three crewmen
