RJ-English Electric Lightning F9 5.3
Following the success of the F6 Lightning and its predecessors, the government actually acted wisely for once and instead of listening to some fantasist in relation to the future of manned flight they decided to invest in more manned aircraft. The logical step was to adapt existing airframes to meet evolving needs, EE with RamboJutter as a design consultant changed the lightnings tail and wings to what has become a more standardised configuration / shape that allows for a larger wing area (with additional fuel capacity in the wings) while maintaining a phenominal performance.
Seen here in its Tiger meet colour scheme the F9 is a stunning example of what could have been. It utilises modern avionics, equipment and radar etc. on a tried and tested airframe)

@RamboJutter the plane I made which is somewhat similar to this one (the Sea Sparrow) was exactly the same. Every small thing I touched would completely change the way it flew and would create intense auto roll. It’s always so nice when it works simply. The one I’m working on now is going pretty smoothly
@Mustang51 your not wrong, I'm working on a build which has a swing wing with variable angle of attack plus flaps and rotating ordinance pylons. Now sp is fighting me, every time I touch a part something randomly attaches to something else....
@RamboJutter it’s always nice when SP just let’s you build how you want without any hiccups
@Mustang51 thanks :) I enjoyed this build, for once I didnt feel like the game was fighting me lol
This is a real beauty! Fantastic looking aircraft and the way you made the wings is really excellent. Also that tiger camo is too notch. Wonderful build!
I don't know how they work on the ground. I've seen a video on how arrestor cables work on aircraft carriers, so 8km assuming they work the same way on land.
@RamboJutter
@ND40X now that's something ivd not seen, I've read about them, what ballast / slows the cable?
Well, I know about the tail hook thing. I've seen a runway arrestor cable at RAF Leeming.
And I guess the name 'brake chute' works too
@RamboJutter
@ND40X quote on the ee lightning, "A combination of Dunlop Maxaret[50]anti-skid brakes on the main wheels and an Irvin Air Chute[67] braking parachute slowed the aircraft during landing. A tailhook was also fitted."
@ND40X "When used to shorten an aircraft's landing, a drogue chute is called a drag parachute or braking parachute."
@RamboJutter
oh yeah, the 'Brake Chute' isn't called that, it's actually called a Drag Chute
@Asuria thanks, glad you like them.
@Asuria thanks, glad you like them.
Your builds are awesome, keep up the good work!
@SaintNPC thanks :)
Very awesome job on the paintjob.
So very very awesome..!
@RamboJutter no problem. Very nice paint job.
@jamesPLANESii probably due to using the same real aircraft for inspiration :)
@Stormfur I did use 3 different colours on the wing to help with that, I meant to do the same on the fus but forgot so that only has orange and yellow.
@EternalDarkness thanks for the spotlight and upvote, it helped me to get nearly 40 up votes for the first time in ages.
Tigers go woof right?
Very cool!
Livery be like
I love how the orange and light orange seem to play with the eyes and at first glance appears to fade
Nice Lightning Tiger Meet . Great decoration . A BIG JOB .
