To release the drop tank, press (3). To activate the 30mm Mk 8 cannons, press (1). To activate the 12.7mm Mk 2 machine guns, press (2). Airbrakes are operated via VTOL. A Pummeler Attack Mk 4 outfitted to suppress enemy air defense systems, or SEAD. For this task, she is fitted with electronic countermeasures in an enlarged cockpit spine, as well as an anti-scramble radio listening system. All of this is operated by an electronic warfare specialist, also located in the spine, seated behind the pilot looking backwards. The pod on the tail is a multi-band radar jammer in order to confuse radar signals. To accomplish precision attacks against enemy radar, she is equipped to carry modified Inferno missiles designed to lock onto enemy radar transmissions. It retains its guns, to allow it to engage the sites directly. As this aircraft is to be the first into the target area and the last out, it is given increased armor protection. It was highly successful at its role, creating a temporary window for Pummelers to operate in and forcing radar operators to shut down their radars in order to avoid destruction. This example is operated by the 11th Electronic Warfare Wing, and replaces two of its missiles with rocket pods, since they are useful at engaging radar sites when anti-missile countermeasures are in place.

@ShatterFox I see. My bad. I will change that. This is all part of a larger story in the War of Three Nations.

You see, there is more than the Olympians, the Pilotmario Republic, IJ United, and HR Incorporated in this storyline. Another nation is known as the State of Sanctum, ruled by a theocratic oligarchy based on the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The capital of this country is known as New Jerusalem, where the Archbishop, Chief Rabbi, and Caliph meet. All have equal power.

The League of Olympia is a theocratic federal republic which is based on Ancient Greek culture, hence many of their equipment is named after figures from Greek mythology.

You see, the reason why the Olympians do not like the Sanctans and keep invading them is because long ago, they were part of the Sanctan Empire, ruling over what is now the League of Olympia, the Enlightened Kingdom (a Buddhist monarchy), and the Pilotmario Republic. The Sanctan Empire suppressed all other religions during their rule, causing great unrest for centuries until Mark Pilot and Victoria Mario joined forces with the Dalai Lama in exile and Olympia Callis. Together, they formed their respective nations based on their principles, and agreed not to attack the now State of Sanctum.

Of course, the Olympians suffered the worst, and were highly vengeful.

Many in high command didn't like his philosophy due to this. However, when precision strikes by attack aircraft suffered heavy casualties for little gain, they decided to use his strategy, which did far more damage to the targets. To General Armstrong Victor, it is the principle of what comes around goes around; to him, the Olympians now must pay for the systematic oppression of the gypsies that existed for centuries. @ShatterFox

Yep. And let's not mention the Olympians did the same thing. During the invasion of Sanctum, they carpet bombed New Jerusalem, though it inflicted far less damage than Pilotmarian Air Force raids later due to the use of much lighter aircraft. They also targeted refugee boats, killing thousands of helpless refugees. Those cities have munitions plants, and according to captured Olympian military documents, intentionally placed them there as human shields, thinking that the Pilotmario Air Force would never engage such a heavily defended target at such a close proximity to civilians.

They didn't consider the presence of General Armstrong Victor. General Victor was the son of a gypsy family, and the gypsies have suffered systematic abuse from the Olympian people and government. He left when he was twelve with his older brother; his father and mother were killed in front of him during a "land cleansing". And the police simply ignored it. He despised them since. He joined the Pilotmario Air Force and rose to the rank of General, where he became a student of the strategic bomber school of thought. He was the first to create a strategy that combined and coordinate all air arms in a unified strategy centered around strategic bombers. He hated the Olympians for what they did to his family, and was now in a position for retribution. @ShatterFox

@Pilotmario So You're taking inspiration after what **ed up America did to hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians?

@ShatterFox The objective of the Air Offensive during the Olympian Wars was to destroy their industrial capacity and their will to fight. As Olympian industry is situated in densely-populated areas, casualties are inevitable. Pilotmario Navy ballistic missiles fired from submarines and cruise missiles fired from cruisers have done plenty of damage to industry. During the First War, the Pilotmario Navy battleships and destroyers would shell the factories. However, the inland cities beyond the reach of the navy, where the majority of the industries are located. Precision strikes from attack aircraft would be suicidal given the level of air defenses. Only the Pilotmario Air Force heavy bombers could strike there. And the least suicidal option was to fly at night with chaff, flares, fighter escort, and jammers, and then drop bombs in the general area where the factory is and hope some hit. Mix some incendiaries too in order to spread fire and increase the probability of damaging the target via fire. Heavy collateral damage is acceptable, given that precision strike is not a viable option without heavy casualties.

And we're interested in ending a war fast. Because wars that end fast tend to cause less suffering in the long run.

I suppose that is a good idea if you don't have heavy bombers raining explosives and fire on their cities. @ShatterFox

I suppose so. Though Pummelers never really found fighters a threat, especially when the Pilotmario Air Force is carpet bombing the cities. @ShatterFox

That can work, though it might limit the ability for your interceptors to use its performance, since this thing is a bit slower than a standard Pummeler. And that plane never won any races. @ShatterFox
