Auto Credit Based on tommie's LS-4
This is the self-launch capable version of the Janus C sailplane. The Schempp Hirth Janus is one of the first modern high performance 2 seaters. It's first flight was in 1974, and it was produced till 1996. It is the predecessor of the popular Duo Discus. A best Glide ratio of 43:1 and flaps make the Janus a very good glider for cross country flying.
I personally really like the handling of the Janus, it's so delightfull and nimble to fly. Despite its weight it soars very nicely in weak thermals.
Use the trim slider to retract the engine in this SP version.
1 activates the drag chute. This feature is removed from most Januses nowadays because the system proved too intricate and unreliable.
Have fun with it!
