Grumman G-118
A 1.14:1 scale build of the Grumman G-118, an aircraft that was never built, and competed against the F-4 Phantom II in 1955.
Losing the competition, albeit 2 prototypes being ordered, it never left the shelf. However, I found the original documents on it and tried building it off of them. There is apparently an internal weapons bay, but I did not build it because of the blueprint being non-specific. This aircraft could also carry two "Ding Dong" (Long range Air-to-Air Nuclear Missiles). Meant for the USN's Air Force, it would have served the same purpose as the Phantom II, but would have changed our modern planes forever because of company favoring. The F-14 Tomcat was the comeback for Grumman in 1968.
This aircraft came out really good! I forgot to put the throttlable rocket engine that is built under the rear of the fuselage, but it doesn't do much anyways. There are 4 AIM-7 "Sparrow" and 3 AIM-9 "Sidewinders" on this aircraft. It also has two drop tanks, an "interior," and my very first working slats! I also finally learned about inverting the VTOL (-VTOL) so the flaps can work on down instead of up.
Weapons:
- 4 AIM-7 Sparrows
- 3 AIM-9 Sidewinders
Controls:
- AG1 - Lights
- AG2 - Arresting Hook
- AG3 - Drop Tanks
- AG4 - Activate front wheel steering (Trim to control)
- AG7 - Fold Wings
- Trim - Trim
- VTOL - Flaps/Slats
I hope y'all enjoy!!!
Side Note:
- The Slats are really weird, but they work. Also, this is my first throttle-based afterburner (Throttle>0.9). AND there are realistic engines and intakes as well. So, yeah. That about does it. Enjoy!
