The Panzerkampfwagen IX " Gepard was a Main Battle Tank (MBT) design created by Krupp for the German government during World War II. The project, initially code-named E.80.102 (E),in responds of Russian Kv-1,and IS-6,
and American Pershing tanks
The Gepard was designed in two variants, unofficially designated Leichter Gepard (light cheetah) and Schwerer Gepard (heavy Cheetah), both with a crew of five.
-Leichter Cheetah
It was to weigh 76 t (75 long tons; 84 short tons), with 600 mm of frontal armor, a rear-mounted turret, a 10.5 cm (4.1 in) L/70 high velocity gun, and a coaxial machine gun, with a top speed of 67 km/h (107 mph). It was later cancelled by The Fuhrer
-Schwerer Gepard
It was to weigh 90 t (89 long tons; 99 short tons), with 720 mm frontal armor, a center-mounted turret, a 10.5 cm L/70 high velocity gun, and a coaxial machine gun, but only managing a top speed of 42 km/h (67 mph). After redesign it had 640 mm frontal armor, 8.8 cm (3.5 in) L/71 gun, and a top speed increased to 51 km/h (82 mph).
