Messinag around with STOL and hyper manueverability without using VTOL engines. This is fun to mess around with. Once in the air change the wing configuration. One trick I have found is, in a verticle dive, flip the wings/engines completely over. You can actually bring the aircraft to a stop and begin to back up vertically before you begin to lose control.
