One of the most infamous fighter aircraft of all time, the BF-109 was used from the beginning of the war to the very end, with continuous upgrades. The E-4 was a relatively early model. This version omitted the nose mounted cannon in favor of wing mounted ones. This type was used a lot in the Battle of Britain, escorting Junkers 88 and Heinkel 111 bombers over the English Channel.
