SCM Hanover is the lead ship of the Hanover-class light cruisers. 6 ships of the class were built: Hamburg, Bremen, Oldenburg, Helgoland, Hanover and Saxe-Lauenburg. The cruisers are armed with nine 150 mm SK-150/80 guns. Of the additional armament 6 torpedoes type 56, caliber 633mm. It was built in 1937 as part of a large shipbuilding campaign, in the port city of Kiel. They served in the Saxenbaum Fleet. Hamburg, Bremen and Saxe-Lauenburg were killed during the bombing of the Kiel seaport by German aircraft.Oldenburg and Heligoland were killed during the destruction of the British convoy U-8. Hanover lived to the end of the war and was cut into metal in 1987.
