RJ Cranefly Flying Boat FB 2.1

233k RamboJutter  6 months ago
Auto Credit Based on MAHADI's WWII Challenge (Closed)

Introduction

Well i liked my original cranefly but wondered how it would adapt to being a flying boat, worked well in my opinion.

Moved and rebuilt the engines, added the floats, extra hull and the hull fairings plus any number of other tweaks.

1

Armed now with 4no 20mm cannon and 4no. aerial torpedos it packs a punch and fills in a role somewhere between a Short Sunderland and a Bristol Beaufighter.

Controls

AG1=start/stop engines
LG = landing lights
VTOL dn = flaps / canard trim
Trim = trim of elevator

    i like this one better
    but both of your Craneflies fly too stable for a WWII canard design, thereby eliminating a sense of realism

    @Tang0five yeah cockpits are a pain, you end up spending hours and hundreds of parts on something most people don't use :) I'm OK with them from time to time but I enjoy the rest of the build so much more. I've got a couple of builds still in progress so I'm not retired yet.

    I’m glad you still do what you do. Decent kite to bimble around in and I don't go in for the cockpit either these days, More hassle than it’s worth.
