Venture Aeronautics Project D700

27.8k TheFlightGuySP  2.1 years ago

Overview: the D700 is the first blended flying-wing aircraft to be developed by Venture Aeronautics. The aircraft was designed to test the flight characteristics, safety, practicality, and design features of blended flying-wing aircraft. The aircraft is powered by two Venture Aeronautics JE-11 experimental turbofan engines, which were designed to be very efficient and less noisy compared to other turbine engines.

FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS

Maximum Airspeed (TAS): 350mph, 563kph, 304knots.
Maximum Altitude: 30,000ft, 9,144m.
Takeoff Airspeed (IAS)(75% Power): ~165mph, ~266kph, ~143knots.
Landing Airspeed (IAS): ~100mph, ~161kph, ~87knots.
Controls:

  • Activate1/2: Start Up/Shut Down Engine 1/2.
  • Trim: Trim.

NOTES

  • The difference in the aircraft's takeoff and landing airspeed is largely due to the engine and landing gear placement.
  • If one of the engines is shut down mid-flight, the aircraft will go into an uncontrollable roll-over spin.
  • Yawing the aircraft will cause the aircraft to roll. However, non-commanded oscillations will be counteracted by the fly-by-wire yaw system.
