Maksimov-Zakharchenko MaZ-15 "Strekoza"

TheMaksimov-Zakharchenko MaZ-15 "Strekoza" (lit. Dragonfly) is a twin-engine monoplane bomber designed by Maksimov-Zakharchenko Aeronautics Company for the Alyaskan Imperial Air Force (AVVS) in 1941. It was the first purpose-built Alyaskan fast assault bomber built mainly from wooden materials. Due to its lightweight, it's one of the fastest piston-engined fighter ever built.

The first Strekoza variant is powered by two Krupin 1500 hp E50 Super air-cooled radial engine, giving the already fast Strekoza unmatched speed and acceleration. It is crewed by two: pilot and an assistant pilot/bombardier. It is armed with 4 × 20 mm RSh-20S/39 tank-mounted autocannon and 2 × 13 mm AvP-36D machine guns. The Strekoza could carry 4 × BON-500 500 kg bombs under its wings and a single BON-1200 1200 kg bomb, one of the largest Alyaskan assault bomber ordnance, along with automatic pullout airbrake for more accurate dive bombing. It is also equipped with a bomb sight operated by the assistant pilot/bombardier. Later variants introduced a better bombsight in exchange for far less armaments.
