Supermarine Lightning Rod Mk. I

1,858 PeytonR  7.3 years ago

The Supermarine Lightning Rod was the first British jet fighter. It was developed in the defense of the British Isles in the later stages of the Second Weltkrieg. The fighter was pushed into production by Sir Oswald Mosely, leader of the Union of British Fascists, after the fall of Paris. A squadron of four were also modified to be dropped from an airship, the Revenge. Ultimately, this fighter was no match for the combined air forces of Imperial Germany, Canada, America and Austria. Like all Fascist superweapons, it was too little, too late.
