Vought A-3 Vindicator II

5,120 DOYOUMIND  2 months ago

The Vought A-3 Vindicator II (also known as the Cadaver) was a multirole, medium weight fighter designed in 1963 by Edgar Raine. It featured provisions to carry the Aim-9E, Aim-7F, as well as Mk.83 1000lb bombs and Hydra Rocket pods. The A-3 was also the first aircraft in the air force to have thrust vectoring. The aircraft saw widespread service throughout the Vietnam war, and limited service in the Gulf war, and was retired during operation desert storm. With 900+ built, about 60 are known to have been lost in combat. The Vindicator is still operated by the IRIAF, Pakistani air force, and the Israeli air force (display team only)
