Main Descrption

The Mk.V SPA/MTD H1-D is a tank destroyer casemate variant mounted on the Polish heavy tank H1-3. It is the last production tank destroyer to be ever used in combat service since its retirement date is in the early 2000s in Poland, however it is still in service by export countries, replacing outdated tanks that was predated back to WW2.

History

In the 60s, the Polish needed a tank capable of destroying buildings and being a combat engineering vehicle that can also deliver high firepower against tanks.
The first design was initially rejected since it did not match what the requirements was looking for. The second design was an improvement and was accepted for prototype production.
Trials began and it was soon realized it had terrible engine reliability on it's powerplant, so it used a turbine engine instead of a petrol engine for vast speed and reliability improvement.
Soon the tank would enter production and would be used as defense and on the offense incase the cold war escalated, but thankfully, this isn't the case.
After decades of active use, the Mk.V SPA/MTD H1-D was retired in Polish service, but they are since exported in older variants, newer variants were either preserved or destroyed to prevent being reverse engineered.

Have fun!
