The abolishment of the MT9 drained the Centrian Air Force of a capable fighter and needed to re-arm fast. They decided to put into the service again the retired MT8 jets but it's design and tail configuration meant that it would ineffective on supersonic flight thus it got the role of a dive bomber as it was incompatible with the smart bombs. It featured better engines which is more powerful and fuel efficient. As it reached mach 1 during a dive, the tail control surface would be ineffective so the procedure was to turn off afterburners and open the air brakes which due to its position would slow the plane and pitch it up. After leaving transonic speeds, the tail is operable again and the pilots can now fly normally.
