The royal aircraft factory R.E8 was a ww1 british reconnasence aircraft it was famed for its ability to be very stable under a good pilot it had a good amount of lift and was light so it could reach high altitudes in a short space of time it was also famous for being slow and having terrible agility that left it useless when evading fighters it had a single machine gun at the rear operated by the observer it was positioned next to the observers camera that took photos on glass plates you must be careful taking them out at high altitude at 70mph wearing wooly mittens!
