Pummeler Attack

"It was the Hogs. Without them, we would be six-feet under."
- General Burns of the 3rd Army, when asked about the most important thing in the Battle for Yeager Field.

A powerful close-air support warplane, it was based on the Pummeler Fighter. It is also known as the "Hog" or "Boxcart" due to its apparent age. While the fighter has long been replaced by more advanced types, the Pummeler Attack has been at the forefront of Pilotmario's many conflicts with its neighbor, the League of Olympia. Its importance is exemplified by testimony from General Burns of the 3rd Army after the Battle for Yeager Field. When asked how his seemingly outnumbered force was able to drive back a sizable Olympian force, he stated "It was the Hogs. Without them, we would be six-feet under."

The combination of firepower, maneuverability and durability allow it to engage enemy positions with great precision, even when under heavy fire. In addition to its eight wing-mounted machine guns, it can also carry bombs, rockets and minigun pods on its wings. The inner pylons are certified for bombs and fuel tanks only, where wing pylons are cleared for all ordnance.

The type served well during all three Olympian Wars, consistently performing well despite its age. While obsolete as a fighter, it remained a viable attack aircraft, endearing the love of its pilots. It was finally retired at the end of the Third Olympian War, replaced by the far more powerful Boar Attack, a type which served alongside it during that conflict. The Boar was an excellent design in its own right, and took from the experiences of the Pummeler. In addition, many of the airframes were very worn out, seeing plenty of hard use over the decades. Some airframes had over 100,000 hours logged, and it was not uncommon to find airframes with over 7,000 hours logged. Maintenance was increasingly problematic, as Pummeler spares were running out; no new aircraft were made since the end of the First Olympian War, and proposals to restart production were deemed not worth the effort.

Due to its lengthy and prestigious service in the Pilotmario Air Force, it was known as the "Grand Old Lady" to those who flew and maintained it. By the end of its service life, it was flown by three generations of the finest pilots, and was present in some capacity in all major battles. The Pilotmario Air Force's version of the Bravery Medal features this aircraft prominently.

Of note, the air brakes are operated via VTOL slider.

Indeed. A few (read: a ton) of refinements, but nonetheless retaining the same basic design. @Dllama4

I have made some modifications to the design. However, instead of uploading what is the same plane, I shall list them below:

Remove all dead weight except for the one directly under the cockpit that does not touch the engine.
