Veillantif
The Veillantif was the first dedicated warplane of the then-young Sixth French Republic's Armée de'l Air. A dedicated light bomber, this airplane's long wings and strong build enable it to carry a payload comparable to a Twin Clothes Horse on a single engine. Being expected to also strafe enemy troops, this aircraft can be equipped with a rotary machine gun that can be interchanged with cameras for reconnaisance work.
This airplane, and the formation of the Armée de'l Air, can be explained as a reaction to the first war against Nova Evropa, which saw the latter's expansion north and westwards stopped, creating a low-intensity stalemate as the Nova Evropan leadership decided to go against what seemed to be a tastier treat in the Iberian Peninsula. At this point, the SFR didn't really have an air fleet apart from air mail and suffered as a result, with Burner abductions being a particularly traumatic memory.
This led to the development of a whole line of warplanes taking lessons from the CIR's own struggle against Nova Evropan expansion, the Veillantif being the first to enter service. This airplane first saw service flying secret reconnaisance flights over NE territory, gathering information to both relay to the CIR and prepare for the upcoming counteroffensive against Nova Evropa.
