Document IV: Description
Document IV.A: Synopsis
The F/A-168R is a variant of the old F/A-168M the DHC has first produced from the late-2010s. It includes numerous design overhauls to keep up with the Corporation's latest aircraft.
Document IV.B: Design
The Dunkelhund II has its mid-hull, wings, and stabilizers revised for stealth shaping and functions. Its avionics and radars have also been thoroughly updated to accommodate use of the revised S variants of the BVRMPM-332 and MPM-293 missiles first used on the new Darkhound nameship. The cockpit has also been transitioned from analog to glass, and the control stick has been moved from between the legs to the right armrest to make way for HOTAS.
Document IV.C: Armament
The F/A-168R uses the Umgeben.V411 Long-range AESA Radar. The BVRMPM-332 S variant has been optimized for interception, with a lock at air targets as far as 100 kilometers away and at surface targets 16 kilometers far. The MPM-293 has been optimized to lock near the WVR threshold, with a maximum 37 kilometer lock range for air targets and 16 kilometers for ground targets. The Kurz variant of the long-serving MR-20Z guns isn't used, but a new R variant with slight increase in spread and with less tracers. These tracers however are good at all-weather tracking, and also useful in both day and night operations due to the sharp contrast of the tracers' bright red.
Document IV.D: Production
The Dunkelhund II currently has 2000 units of the initial M variant being kept for reserve, 1500 of which will be phased out in favor of 750 units of the new F/A-168Rs to be use in active service.
