Advanced AAM/AGM Missile Pack (New/Improved)
This pack brings to light a distinct selection of various high-quality Air-to-Air Missiles as well as an equally superb Air-to-Ground Missile.
These missiles have been tried and tested over the past months and are designed for pure performance, game balance, and to each fulfill their own specific purpose within the realm of Air Combat.
Missiles:
(listed left-to-right in order of onscreen appearance)
(note, the following first three missiles are most effective when paired together on a single aircraft and should be considered parts of their own group or missile “family”)
(skip to bottom of page if you would like to see only recommended loadouts, however I advise you to read the missile descriptions)
Starsplash: (Fox-3 AAM) Highly effective long-range standoff missile built to quickly intercept extremely far-off targets. Has a maximum range of 30 km yet cannot acquire lock if target is less than 7.5 km away. Features the fastest available max range/speed/explosive mass, but is offset by a smaller targeting area, longer locktime, and iffy maneuverability that generally fails to track actively maneuvering targets at closer ranges. Designed to be dumped at long range and potentially earn a kill before target aircraft takes defensive measures.
Cloudglare (Dogfight): (Fox-3 AAM) Medium-range "dogfight" missile made to fill the marginal gap in AAM capabilities within ranges of 7.3 km out to 1.75 km. With a more clear emphasis on maneuverability and usage across a broader range sector, this missile primarily finds itself fighting head-on 1v1 engagements against actively approaching enemy aircraft with relative ease; eliminating mid-range advancing targets in a directly frontal aspect is the main purpose of this "dogfight" missile. Hence, to facilitate these inherent abilities, this missile features decent maximum speed and acceleration, stock explosive mass, upgraded maneuvering/tracking, greater targeting area, and a fast lock time. Note, if attempting to intercept a target from a 'side' aspect lock (target is flying perpendicular to you. moving from left-to-right or vice-versa), track rate shall typically suffer and it is possible that the missile will completely miss.
TV-ASRAAM: Thrust-vectoring Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile (Fox-3 AAM) This missile simply features the best available maneuverability (improved aerodynamic capability AND the addition of thrust vectoring) and excels at converting close-in targets to scrap metal. Features near-instantaneous missile lock acquisition, and the largest available targeting circle. The maximum range of the TV-ASRAAM is just 1.55 km and the minimum lies at an incredibly close 100 m, allowing for proper missile lock acquisition & engagement of targets even within gun range. The aforementioned increased targeting area coupled with the astonishing maneuverability of this missile make it possible to effortlessly fire on & destroy a fully maneuvering enemy aircraft only 300m away that is on the very edge of your screen whilst dogfighting. The limitations of this missile, however, are still inherently obvious; features lowest max speed and sizably small explosive mass that may not fully destroy a target on detonation. Furthermore, using this missile requires the operator to enter a close range weapons engagement zone with the enemy which only adds on pilot risk and the potential for your target to fire on you. Note, in certain instances this missile may still fail to properly track a target, the maneuverability of this missile is not absolute and always consider the shots you are about to take.
Lightningfury: (Fox-3 AAM) Intended more as a short-to-mediumish range defensive weapon, the Lightningfury is separate from the above family of missiles yet it still provides feasibly effective capabilities for use in closer range environments. Having an operational range of 4.8km out to 350 m, it is in theory possible to engage targets within dogfight range but is in practice unheard of. It performs best near its max range of 4.8km and should not be used upclose or against actively maneuvering targets. Make use of the extra explosive mass and quick lock time to down higher profile enemies though keep in mind its maneuverability is decent at best. There is no main usage doctrine or scenario for this weapon so feel free to experiment but recognize its limitations and be optimistic with your shots.
Stormblaze AGM: (Fox-3 AGM) The Stormblaze AGM is designed as a compact all-purpose heavy-hitting Air-to-Ground missile intended to be used as a “first strike” fire & forget weapon. Featuring advanced flight characteristics, the Stormblaze diligently makes its way to target at high speeds and maneuverability allowing for a quicker and more precise homing solution. Moreover, the explosive mass featured within the missile is 3 times higher of that found in typical AGMs which gives way for its use as a “first strike” weapon, being able to sink destroyers or small ships with just a single impact that lays hellfire all around. Effective range: 6.5km to 50 m.
