The Squid semi-rigid airship was the CIR's response to the nightly Burner raids. Just as the Stabber was unusual in being a fighter autogyro, this is a night fighter airship. Armed with a low-velocity 35 mm cannon and a machine gun, this airship was brought about by the need to patrol large swathes of land watching for raiders for prolongued periods of time. As a result, this airship has a long cockpit for a gunner and two pilots who alternate in shifts as the night passes. While not as fast as it's prey owning to a less aerodynamic external bracing, the Squid was at heart an ambush predator, expected to attack before it's quarry would rev up to maximum speed.

Squids could be deployed either as free-floating aircraft, or as captive ships for point defense, who would sever the cables connecting them to the ground upon spotting an hostile. In both cases, the cannon is the Squid's main tool, being equipped with shells designed to shred themselves after hitting a Burner envelope by freeing the hydrogen. Depending on the situation at hand, the spare pilot would either radio the ship's crash location or the gunner would then finish off with incendiary MG rounds.
