GRM - Anchor Winch AW1.4

6.1 years ago
EDIT: [ONLY WORKS ON VESSELS, see description below:]
A working anchor winch system to put on your boats/ships.
The only anchor winch ever to be built in SP (couldn't find any other anchor). The best part is, the anchor actually works...mostly. Due to the physics limitations in SP, the anchor only works under specific conditions:
The anchor can hold up to about 35mph winds, maybe even 45 depending
on your physics settings. When spawning with the anchor, do not have any
wind enabled, let it sink calmly to the bottom first. The entire contraption,
especially the anchor, is very heavy, so use vessels with high buoyancy.
TRIM (UP) -> Lift the anchor
To make it work, use it on a vessel (duh).

@Leyton77 Read the instructions carefully and I assure you it will.
@CDRxavier Flawless physics!
Anyway, I had made my own vehicle winch, as of now.
Note the square collision on the round fuslage!
@CDRxavier Did you look at the pictures I sent? They'll give you an idea of what I mean. here(click me) But yeah, just like real ship anchors, theres some chain leaft. Obviously not good for a crane (never said this is a vehicle whinch).
So it was NOT supposed to retract all the way up...
All right then.
@CDRxavier Listen to me closely: It does not work on land. Sorry, I must have not explained well enough. It works only from a vessel.
You can see it retracting here(click me) and having retracted here(click me). If you are referring to it not retracting completely into the casing, it isn't meant to. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to re-deploy it. This is an anchor, not a crane.
.
Hope this helps ^^.
But me testing on dry land showed it didn't work...
I meant, I tried to have it retract the line, but it can't do it.
@CDRxavier Thanks for your feedback. Check the description, it does not work under all conditions. It is specifically designed to work on things that float. And not to be lifted by cranes. Feel free to use the parts of it though. Your inquiries explained:
.
-The no collision setting is literally the only thing that makes this long of a whinch possible, with collisions enabled you couldn't even make a chain half the size.
.
-Then there are other winch projects, SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR CRANES out there. This winch only works on VESSELS (see description), NOT on cranes, or vehicles.
.
-The "line" erm...is working, I can retract the anchor completely. FROM A VESSEL.
.
On the plus side, if you made a floating construction crane, you could use this to anchor the pontoons lol.
@FlipposMC
no collision is NOT good.
I cannot winch the entire thing up now!
I just needed a simple winch for the use on a mobile crane.
I can use PARTS from yours, but erm... your "line"...it was NOT working.
@CRJ900Pilot he says in the description how to operate the anchor.
@CRJ900Pilot
1. Stick many hinge rotators with disabled mesh, no collisions in xml and floppy speed together to make the chain.
2. Make a whinch design with rotators with upgraded xml input control (-200 min, 200 max) and connect the chain to it.
3. Make an anchor out of fusalage parts, make the mass as high as you can but low enough for the whinch to pull up.
4. Add hemispheres with xml modded friction (2000) to the anchor.
5. Profit?
Wow this is really cool how does it work?
@Kerbango Lol
Popeye approved.
