MP-2F "Dandelion"
MP-2F "Dandelion".
*The MP-1F "Edelweiss" was not yet good enough of a mountain fighter. Weak landing gears, unreliable performances, and way too big to be stored into Alpine hangars. The Alpine Fighter Group needed a smaller, nimbler and stronger aircraft.
Thus, the MP-2F "Dandelion" was born.
Characteristics and History
The MP-2F has a top speed of 380mph, scoring much slower than the Mixed-propulsion brother. However, stall speed is maintained at a stunning 60mph, with a gliding power comparable to biplanes thanks to the wide wing area, and compact design. The cockpit has been removed, and instead, the cabin was fit into the nose of the airplane as a bold move to reduce drag and give much more frontal visibility to pilots. No rearview mirrors were mounted, however, and the armored glass was not enough to block any real armament, making this aircraft unsuitable for Bomber engagement.
A fighter it was, and that's all it could do. No bombs, limited range, no impressive speeds.
What made this plane very successful, was its maneuverability. The armament was weaker than the predecessor, but every single detail and con were flat out destroyed by the sheer agility of the plane and its energy retention. No plane could get behind it, let alone dare dogfight it. The two 23mm and 12mm cannons were good enough to dispatch enemy fighters, and the very quick acceleration of the engine allowed to climb extremely well. Furthermore, it boasts one of the strongest gear that could be fitted, making landings very easy on any terrain. Easy, in the sense that there was no big risk of going delicately, but the hypermaneuvrability made any landing difficult. Luckily, a local stabilizer has been fitted for navigation and landing.
Pros
-Extremely Agile
-Quick Acceleration
-Short take-off and landing distance
-Strong gear, and very compact setting with collapsable propellers
-Nose cabin allows for clear visibility upfront and even below
Cons
-Lack of rearview mirrors make it impossible to see right behind
-Vulnerable to head-ons and frontal attacks
-Short range
-Weak armament
-Complex to fly
Mode of operation and tips
Ag-5 For Lights
Ag-6 For Stabilizer
Ag-7 To fold wings
Ag-8 To shut down engine and disable surface control
-It is suggested to avoid head-ons at all costs. The plane is not fit for punishment
-Use of rudder is highly recommended, as its large surface allows for complex maneuvers
-Guns have some reload time after 4 seconds of sustained fire
-Land by turning the Stabilizer, and shutting engines down
-Can land on any surface, and needs almost no runway to do so. However, approach speed must be at 80mph. Utilize flaps
-Regular controls apply, including Trim, and because of how high lift is, it is suggested to immediately regulate it
