Description:
Dreadnoughtus Schrani is a giant Titanoasurian sauropod dinosaur that lived in the Late Cretaceous in the Campanian and Maastrichtian 84 to 66 million years ago. The name Dreadnoughtus means "fears nothing". It was one of the largest titanosaur that lived on Earth, along with Argentinosaurus and Patagotitan. It is estimated that it weighed approximately 59 to 60 tons.
Evolution:
Sauropods evolved from dinosaurs of the Triassic period that could walk on both two and four legs had somewhat long necks like Plateosaurus or Thecodontosaurus. These early sauropodomorphs were small bipedal herbivores. As they evolved, they gradually shifted to quadrupedalism. The earliest records of sauropods date back to the Late Triassic. Throughout their lineage, there were at least 36 separate events of evolution towards gigantic sizes on six continents over 100 million years. Each time a new lineage evolved, one or more independent groups reached a superlative status.
