Nord AS-30&AS-30L Air-To-Surface Missile
AS-30 is an air-to-surface missile manufactured by Nordavision. This is a precision attack weapon, which is designed to attack high-value targets such as bridges and bunkers. The AS-30 is essentially a larger version of the early AS-20 design. Initially, it used the weapon's guidance system, which required pilots to visually track the weapon and correct its path with a small joystick, while also flying their own aircraft. Facts have proved that all these MCLOS systems are difficult to use in practice. The updated AS-30L replaces this system with a semi-active laser homing system, which allows the missile to fly to the target without operator intervention. About 60 AS-30L were launched in operation desert storm and Operation Deliberate Force, which achieved great success.
