X-312 / Norman model N312 Weasel
Fictional attack and CAS concept
There is a saying in aviation, “If it looks like an airplane, it flies like an airplane.”
Taking that into account, your first impressions of Norman’s N312 Weasel would lead you to believe it was a poor performer. You would be right to assume that. This tiny little asymmetrical shit was designed around one of Norman’s favorite weapons: the GAU-8. The barrel of the gun protrudes from the starboard side of the aircraft, leaving only the port side with space for the jet engine’s air intake. The aircraft is relegated to very little additional underwing weapons due to the weight and complexity of the gun and other systems. Despite this, the Weasel is an agile craft capable of effectively supporting troops on the ground no matter the situation.
(That sentence at the top is from the 90’s so don’t quote me on it or harass me for it.)
