This is the fictional Bristol Backfire Mk.I, designed in 1943 as a British high-altitude interceptor. Although somewhat lacking in maneuverability at lower altitudes, this aircraft's low wing loading allowed it to carry fairly heavy loads, and was also a capable fighter-bomber alongside Hurricanes and Typhoons. It features a mid-mounted engine, far forward cockpit and a 30mm cannon.
The Backfire ended up mostly in use by Free French Forces, as the Typhoon and later Tempest had already more than made up for Britain's fighter-bomber needs.
