IDAD-001 was a prototype of a light supersonic fighter jet manufactured by state-owned aerospace company, Pt. IDAD (Indonesian Air Defence Design). IDAD took the MiG-21 as a reference for the fighter itself, and 50 percent of its design are reversed engineered, director of IDAD said that this manufacturing technique turn into learning material for local engineers as for the future fighters will be 100 percent designed by the locals. except for the engines, avionics, and controls.
