The Grandine ("Hail" in Italian) is a specialized bomber originating from the Tyrrhenian Confederation, which is another anarchic society centered around the shores of it's namesake sea.
Founded by underground insurrectionary groups that opposed the LRI, the TC is notably more radically-minded in it's anarchism than the CIR, which by contrast hadn't been forged in the fires of revolution but molded by the Crumbling.
The Grandine itself reflects the TC's peculiarities: The focus on mountain warfare against the Padanian Republic in the North has meant a need for aircraft capable of hitting precision targets. While a conventional attack aircraft would be usually used, the geography makes strafing and low-altitude bombing attacks both dangerous and predictable, forcing the TC's armaments industry to reply with the re-development of primitive guided munitions, for which this machine is a purpose-made platform, made to drop guided munitions from high altitude.
To this end, this twin-seat aircraft possesses three engines to cope with the power needed to lift bulky external ordnance in an airframe otherwise devoted to it's crew and fuel. The push-pull configuration, taking inspiration from the old Window Shades, was chosen to provide the bombardier with a clear view of the bomb they're guiding. Finally, while the aircraft possesses two 18 mm cannons in the wing roots for offensive purposes, the lack of a rear gunner is intentional: just as in the CIR, it's assumed that dedicated gunners not only are unfeasible with a volunteer force, but would also degrade performance.
The aircraft here is shown in three different configurations. From right to left, it is first depicted with a rather exaggerated air-surface configuration: two air-air missiles usually carried to destroy enemy patrol aircraft, two small guided bombs, as usually employed on field targets, and two of the largest type of ordnance, intended to be used on shipping and fortified targets. Then, there's a pure air-air configuration, showcasing both types of air-air guided rockets available and an under-fuselage mounting for a 35 mm cannon. This kitting is rarely entirely seen, though the cannon is commonly used in patrol Grandines.
Finally, we see a third Grandine fitted with the radial engines usually preferred by CIR squadrons. The fitting of these engines usually results in a more powerful, but more fuel-thirsty and slower aircraft.
This ordnance itself was developed partly by studying pre-Crumbling artifacts, but are still nevertheless primitive, radio-controlled devices.
Controls: From left to right: 1-6 drops bombs. Missiles have a slight delay before they're dropped, during which the Rockets that serve as propulsion can be ignited.
