Babel T91 MEMTAB
“You can fire your arrows from the Tower of Babel, but you can never strike God.” Apocalypse, X-Men: Apocalypse
Months ago, I built a railgun turret meant to be used on mobile platforms, such as combat ships. This massive weapon, designation “Babel T91,” is my signature attempt at immobile ground-based weaponry. Falling under the category of Massive Electro-Magnetic Trans-Atmospheric Bombardment (MEMTAB) systems, the Babel is a railgun with intercontinental ranges rivaling that of an ICBM. It accelerates projectiles (nuclear or otherwise) at speeds of over Mach 25.
I had planned to go much farther into detail with this build, but incessant crashing kept me from doing that. I had to discontinue efforts to construct a more detailed base for the weapon to rest on, and also forewent a more sophisticated paint job.
Controls are simple, VTOL Slider to elevate the weapon, and the Fire Button to fire. I experimented a lot with XML modifying a wing gun, and ended up with a decent firing effect. To make the build a bit more realistic, I restricted firing to once every 15 seconds. The wait is definitely worth it though, as it’s oddly satisfying to watch the projectile tracer streak away from the barrel at high speeds

@Ephwurd Yay <3
@YuukaNeko thank you@
@Mellons Well, yeah, I did my research... but the name inspiration is more from the movie quote, less from the historical allegory
@Ephwurd Go for it!
Do you know what the tower of Babel actually is? Well was
I can improve this @YuukaNeko
Hoohh myyy gaaawd@YuukaNeko
@CrazyCodeC Probably not X3 I'm all about looks, not performance, you know
I ripped the gun part off of this thing and stuck it on a bomber to see what it could do to the USS Beast. I was disappointed. Did you not change the projectile mass so that it could actually do something?
