Holy, i am seeing this now and frightened of myself
I would say replace the disconnector with a magnet and modify the XML of the control-surfaces to activate on action groups like the main aircraft would work on AG8 while the small plane would work on AG1 so you would put the magnet on AG8 so when you stop controlling the main aircraft the small plane automatically drops and you could put a gyro on AG1 so when the small plane is controlled the main aircraft stays level. That's just what I would do bit hey still better than my first attempt lol. Good job.
