Greece, one of the first operators of the F-1, sent out a request for a dedicated fighter varient outfitted with new technology. The result was the F-1G, the only dedicated fighter in the series. 2 centerline pylons for Mage 1 missiles were installed under the cockpit, an IRST under the nose gives it the capability to carry newer missiles, the spine behind the cockpit was enlarged for new avionics, and an AS-90 autocannon under the nose gives it extra firepower.
