La France
Controls:
Pull VTOL up to go up, use throttle to go forward, and use yaw to steer.
Description:
The La France was an airship that first flown in 1884. Unlike the airships and balloons that came before it, this was the first manned, powered, aerial vehicle that had practical means of steering, and it became the first aircraft to land on the same spot it took of from after a long and successful flight around Paris.
One interesting feature of this airship is that it actually used an electric motor and a crude flow battery, so technically the history of engines in aviation is steam -> electric -> combustion
Notes:
Once again I had to take some liberties when replicating the real thing. Firstly, I could only find a handful of real photographs, and none of them really shown the airship in detail. Therefore I had to use blueprints and drawings, which often differed quite substantially.
Also, the real La France had no landing legs, it was probably launched from an elevated platform, but I added them so its usable in SP.
Also, obviously, the real thing was much slower, dare I say boringer.
Enjoy
