Carbon Cub SS

My 6th attempt in the editor. For some screenshots of the kind of landings this plane can pull off (including landing on a moving convoy truck), check out this album! http://imgur.com/a/4CKwM

This is a scale/weight/power accurate replica of the CubCrafters CC-11-160 Carbon Cub SS, a light sport aircraft based on the Piper Cub. It is a fully modernized airframe consisting of half the parts of a Super Cub and weighing a full 300lbs less, famed throughout the world for it's amazing bush-flying capabilities. This particular version is fitted with tundra tyres making it suitable for soft-field conditions.

Press 1 to start engine and position lights, and 2 for the landing light. You can also lock the tailwheel for takeoff and landing using 8.

I recommend 1 notch of flaps for takeoff, 1.5 for prolonged low-speed flight and 2 for landing. You WILL lose altitude at full flaps if not using 100% of available power.

Go easy on the brakes during short landings - they are very powerful and there is a lot of inertia wanting to flip the plane onto it's nose. I recommend tapping them if you don't have an analogue input available.

Creating this little plane was a fun challenge, and hopefully you guys get a lot of fun out of flying it! I've learned a lot about bush flying and STOL techniques while researching this aircraft actually - it's been very interesting. Possibly one of my favourite fields in aviation. All of the specs including weight, power, length, wingspan, even wing area and power to weight ratio are very accurate to the real aircraft which lends it amazing low-speed flight characteristics.

Thanks very much for the kind comments everyone :-)

I am really glad you're all enjoying this little plane. It's a real favourite of mine thanks to its ridiculously light weight and subsequent maneoverability! The rudder is a little overpowered at high speeds but this allows it to still function effectively at low speed - the flight regime that I felt should be most concentrated on in a plane like this!

Ever wanted a plane that could land on the back of a destroyer, out-maneuver a Jet fighter, and take off at 45 mph? Well here you are! The Carbon Cub SS, specifically designed for all of your wilderness needs! In all seriousness though, this plane is amazing. Great details, great flying, and more! And that rudder is ridiculous. Any other plane would flat spin if it turned that fast!
