Pummeler Attack A-1I

147k Pilotmario  8.2 years ago
Auto Credit Based on Pilotmario's A-1H Pummeler

(1-6) drops bombs. VTOL controls air brakes. An upgrade to the most popular warplane in any RP it graces, featuring a supercharger, additional armor, and dual-flow wings, it is significantly faster, better-protected, and more maneuverable than its predecessors. The guns have been harmonized to the gunsight provide a better depth of fire which the plane can engage in as well as a generally better harmonization for use against ground targets. It is the ultimate evolution of one of the oldest planes I have made -- as of now. No, I'm not going to stop making the Pummeler any time soon. Yes, I will be using this plane in an era of railguns, plasma bombs, and powered armor suits.

Basically, we aren't replacing the Pummeler in a long time.

Because as we found out, nothing will be as good as the Pummeler when it comes to the precise application of unguided ordnance upon hostile ground forces. @Makcoink

And we just made a Pummeler with tricycle landing gear. It's the A-1K Super Pummeler (to avoid confusion with the A-1J, denoting any Japanese-made Pummeler). @Makcoink

We have recently moved them to the RESERVE Air Force. The A-6 Anvil is a turboprop-powered aircraft (it has a propeller). We only began supplementing them because the Pummeler, alongside the C-1 Provider, are the only planes in our fleet that have taildragger landing gear.

All other planes have tricycle landing gear. This complicates takeoff and landing, as the runway will not be visible during such with taildraggers.

During the GWW2, the Pummeler suffered relatively high attrition rates. While combat attrition was to be expected due to their extensive use (a third of all PAF sorties were from Pummelers), the high accident rate was not.

This was due to the landing gear arrangement, which made it harder to land than tricycle-geared types such as the A-6 Anvil. This was what our pilots have told us, and preferred flying the Anvil simply because of this.

The Pummeler continues to see extensive use, flying missions against the ongoing Awwam Rebellion. Even during the Mexican Border War, where Avaruan forces, supported by Awwami forces, attempted to invade Paternia, the Pummeler proved its worth. @Makcoink

@Pilotmario It's quite smart that your replacing the Pummeler with things like the A-2 Boar etc.. and it's a icon of GWW2. The F-12 Emu was purposely made to destroy ground attack aircraft but originally failed as its guns were too low powered though there will be a new version released.

The F-12 Emu is a fighter plane.

Fighter planes need to fly fast and high and emphasize speed so they can get the upper hand over other aircraft, and will sacrifice durability and maneuverability in order to achieve this.

The A-1 Pummeler is an attack plane.

That means it flies low and slow, where maneuverability, endurance, and durability are of utmost importance. Speed is not as essential, and in fact is detrimental to close air support, since flying fast makes it harder to acquire and engage ground targets accurately.

Your average fighter jet will dispense with armor entirely, and may have self-sealing fuel tanks.

The Pummeler has a full ton of armor to protect the pilot and vitals from the immense ground fire in an attack run.

Sure, a Pummeler will probably lose in a fight with any jet fighter. But the Pummeler was never designed to kill jets. We have jet fighters for that.

The Pummeler is designed to blow up hostile ground forces. While supplanted by newer aircraft such as the turbofan-powered A-2 Boar, the turboprop-powered A-6 Anvil, and the A-7 Raider and A-8 Hawk II strike fighters, the Pummeler is very much relevant.

The Pummeler was the symbol of the Paternian military as a whole during the GWW2, between Awwam and Paternia. Paternian soldiers called it the "Guardian Angel". Awwami soldiers called it "Azrael"; the angel of death in the Koran. @Makcoink

@Pilotmario don't you think this thing is getting a bit obsolete. I mean my F-12 Emu could probably out fly and destroy it. this thing is propeller driven.

@Pilotmario I hardly ever xml since the FineTuner came out (partially on my request). Nudging, scaling, and rotating parts can really do miracles. Things I would suggest for the next Pummeler (Pummeler 2) would be moving wings back (by the third of the width of their root), and moving the cockpit back for the same distance. Also, to make it more to the modern standards, reduce the gun armament and focus on bombs and missiles. Wingtip fuel tanks are always a nice touch. Also, try experimenting with cockpit canopy made entirely out of fuselage blocks and fuselage cones. You can find most of these things on my M.Corp Puma for example.

Thanks! This is probably the closest I have gotten so far to what I originally envisioned the Pummeler to be. However, I could not build it to my liking, due to limitations with the game as well as proficiency with XML. Gotta give credit to the HellFireKoder's FineTuner mod. Turns hours of work into minutes. Which is important, since I have a shorter attention span than a goldfish. @EternalDarkness
