Le Sukhoï Su-15 , code OTAN « Flagon » , est un intercepteur tout-temps à long rayon d'action développé par l'URSS dans les années 1960 .
Construit à environ 1 300 exemplaires , le Su-15 a été mis en service de 1967 à 1996 .
La production en série fut lancée en 1966 , et les premiers Su-15 , les Su-15A « Flagon-A » entrèrent en service en 1967.
Des modifications furent apportées au fur et à mesure , comme un système de soufflage des volets pour réduire la distance de décollage , et une
modification de la forme de l'aile . Cette version reçut la désignation OTAN de « Flagon-D », même si la désignation soviétique de l'avion ne changeât pas .
Entre-temps, une version biplace destinée à l'entraînement avait été réalisée : désignée Su-15UT (« Flagon-C »), elle avait un fuselage allongé de 45 cm , une
capacité en carburant réduite , et n'emportait ni radar ni armement . Après un premier vol le 26 août 1968, sa production en série commença en 1970.
Toutes versions confondues , le Su-15 fut construit à 1 300 exemplaires . L'avion était encore en service en 1991 , lors de la dislocation de l'URSS , et fut alors
utilisé par plusieurs anciennes républiques soviétiques . L'Ukraine fut le dernier pays à retirer ses Su-15 , en 1996 .

The Sukhoi Su-15, NATO code "Flagon", is a long-range all-weather interceptor developed by the USSR in the 1960s.
Built around 1,300 copies, the Su-15 was commissioned from 1967 to 1996.
Mass production was launched in 1966, and the first Su-15, the Su-15A "Flagon-A" entered service in 1967.
Modifications were made progressively, such as a flap blower system to reduce the take-off distance, and a
modification of the shape of the wing. This version received the NATO designation of "Flagon-D", even if the Soviet designation of the aircraft did not change.
In the meantime, a two-seater version intended for training had been made: designated Su-15UT ("Flagon-C"), it had an elongated fuselage of 45 cm, a
reduced fuel capacity, and did not carry radar or weapons. After a first flight on August 26, 1968, its mass production began in 1970.
In all versions, the Su-15 was built with 1,300 copies. The plane was still in service in 1991, during the breakup of the USSR, and was then
used by several former Soviet republics. Ukraine was the last country to withdraw its Su-15s in 1996.
