A Russian built light biplane fighter first flown in 1934, this example with Chineese Nationalist Airforce markings reminiscent of about 1940 when the Chinese had purchased over 250 varrious versions of this agile little fighter. Brave nationionalst pilots came face to face with vastly superior Japanese Mitsubishi AM6 Zeros whilst trying to turn the tides of bombers supporing the long running invasion of the Chinese mainland. At least 8 pilots lost their lives in one mass action on 14 March 1941 over Chengdu, this day 80 years ago.
