After a demonstration by the USAF, aero industries decided to make a plane based on the U-2. However, the aircraft was given a captured Dummy P-650 engine, allowing it the capability to pass mach 2. First trials took place in November of 1965. It shattered all observation aircraft records, save that of top speed, which remained firmly in the SR-71's control. During trials it was found that the aircraft's wings shook violently during high speed manuvers, a problem that would remain for the rest of its service. Top Speed: 1600+ miles an hour Service Ceiling: >113,000 mph
