The 45 caliber 3-year 41cm gun was built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War I. The gun was designed for the Japanese Navy. The gun was capable of firing a 936 kg (2064 lb) shell at a rate of one shot every 24 seconds at a range of 30200 m (33000 yd) with an initial velocity of 790 m (2600 ft/s) from its 18.294 m (60 ft 0.2 in) long barrel. The battleships that were to carry this gun included the Amagi class cruiser, the Tosa class battleship, and the Kii class battleship, all of which were cancelled by the Washington Naval Disarmament Treaty.
