Shuttle Columbia, first launch on April 12, 1981, is the first formal service the shuttle, the Columbia cabin 18 meters long, 36 tons of cargo, the image is a large delta wing aircraft, the whole combination device weighs about 2000 tons, it still can on both sides of the direction in the taxi maneuvering flight within 2000 km, to select the suitable landing site. On February 1, 2003 in the eastern United States time at 9 am, the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated over the northern Texas, killing all seven astronauts on board.
