I know a history of this plane
Once in the Italian campaign a Brazilian P-47 was making an attack on an enemy convoy so he did the dive but when he went to recover from the dive (up) he hit his wing in the air.In a large chimney, this ripped off a good part of its wing, making it possible to see the P-47's ammunition magazine flying thanks to the wind. Due to the robustness of the ThunderBolt he flew almost normally and when he got close to the base to land an American P-61 that was less damaged would land in front of him the Brazilian pilot was Furious about this, he accelerated the ThunderBolt and landed in front of P61.
Summary: The P-47 was a great plane
And the Brazilian pilot was a great pilot
This is a true story including photos of the damaged P-47 in the air and on the base
please pin me if you can
